Dr. Tatiana Smirnova is a registered Naturopathic Doctor, Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Acupuncturist based in Midtown Toronto.

In her practice, Tatiana offers a variety of services based on combining Naturopathic, Chinese Medicine and Homeopathic healing systems as well as the application of therapeutic devices for the best outcome of treatment for her patients.

Tatiana believes that many health problems have roots in long-term internal imbalances, stressors, chronic infections, and adverse environmental factors. However, many health issues can be prevented, corrected, and alleviated with the right support of our innate vitality or healing energy.   • Good results achieved with treatments of variety of pain syndromes, musculoskeletal conditions, digestive, circulatory, metabolic disorders, women health, sleep problems, anxiety and depression, and etc. Combination of different modalities can be very helpful to find a right treatment for your individual health problems.

  • Please fill in intake form before appointment, which will be automatically sent to you after you book an appointment and it will be registered in our EMR system. If you don’t get an email with the link to the form, please contact Dr. Tatiana to resend you forms. Alternatively, you can fill in these forms before your appointment in the clinic, but this can take extra time and you will need to come 15-20 min earlier to your appointment.

    If you have any recent Blood test, Ultrasound, MRI or X-Ray reports, please bring them with you to appointment or attach to EMR Intake form.

  • Before your acupuncture treatment, please make sure you had a light meal 1-3 hours and well hydrated before your appointment, and you are not under influence of alcohol, recreational drugs or other substances altering your behaviour and personality

  • Usually, needling is well tolerated but it can cause short transient pain on needle insertion, and in rare cases light bruising. You may feel relaxed and sleepy during the treatment that is a good sign, indicating that this treatment is working for you well and your body is in a healing process.

  • Normally, some acute or very recent health alinements (i.e. from few days to 2-3 weeks) are easier to treat and require shorter duration of treatments, such issue can be resolved just after 2-4 sessions (1-2 times a week) depending on the nature of concern.
    More chronic and longer term issues require extended number of sessions, usually 8-10 or more with subsequent maintains treatment every 2-4 weeks or every month.

  • In most cases, you can expect noticeable improvement after acupuncture, which last for several days or longer, depends on the problem. Usually, you will need at least 6-10 treatments 1-2 times a week to achieve sustainable results.

  • Some specific points should be avoided during pregnancy. Electrostimulation acupuncture should be avoided for people with pacemaker or other implanted electrical devices, or if your prompt to have seizure. Very young children need a special setting to do acupuncture or acupuncture replaced with acupressure or laser acupuncture. You should not do Acupuncture treatment if you are under influence of alcohol or recreational drugs. You should have some light meal and be hydrated before treatment to avoid dizziness and lightheadedness after treatment.

  • Unfortunately, Naturopathy and Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture are not covered by OHIP, but Naturopathic & Chinese medicine services are often covered by many supplementary health Insurance plans (“benefits”), please contact your insurance provider for information about your coverage.
